Dreaming Big At the Beach

I spent four fabulous days in Gulf Shores DREAMING BIG with Writing Away Refuge. These people have become like family to me! To be surrounded by so much talent and humility is truly life changing. For the first time since I began this novel writing journey, I PLACED! Top 10 in the annual First Chapter Contest. When I saw the email, I had to look twice! I'm very accustomed to the, "thanks but no thanks" rejections, so I nearly missed the CONGRATULATIONS! I am beyond thrilled to finally be able to add something to my resume!

Big thanks to Lee Ann, Joyce, Max, Katie, Katharine, and all the amazing participants. We always learn a lot, which is great, but this year, being the third year, a new vibe was felt. It was like a homecoming, a gathering of not only like minds, but of true friends!

I'm about 10000 words into my new novel, (the one which placed!) Searching For Distraction. It's a story about a widow, loosely based on my own experience. I can't wait to start sharing some snippets with you! I've got a good feeling about Anna Kate (main character) and her journey!
